Reincarnation

Have you ever seen inevitable personified? We keep writing about standing at the edge of the abyss, just like movies, but never address what happens after slipping from one. It is just like the taste of cyanide – unknown, until one fine day, someone survives the day just to tell the world if everyone before him tasted a sweet, bitter, or sour death. We keep testing our limits and pushing further and there’s just so much life can take, and the limits let loose and you free fall from the abyss. Standing there, with an aimless heart and a blank mind and absorbing the utmost beauty and solace of nature’s waterfall while sliding inch by inch by the back force of the same water, somehow the entire scene out of a movie set seems extremely inevitable in retrospection. How much careful and cautious can you be when nature pulls you in? Well, that is the beauty and wrath of nature at once. In one split second it can take you from daydreaming to fighting in between the crossfires of gravity and b...

Push and Pull!

Image
Would you walk down that rusty road, On the pebbles that made you yearn. Would you hold up your guard like a sword Or shatter it just to learn? Would you lose yourself just for once Like that fluttering strand of hair Or would you stray around like that brittle leaf Just to wander around in the air? What do you tell yourself when you lose it all When the sky seems to move too fast? Do you even wish to stop by and ask What are they running past? There are days between your highs and lows Where you just wanna feel your breath. Do you even miss the you, you were Before your soul was touched by death? What do you think would have possibly happened, If your conscious had not distanced away? What do you think would have possibly changed, If that night your soul did not go astray? Do you feel the strength in the barren trees Once they lose all their leaves? They stand more firmly now, than ever Against the cold, dark winter breeze. Did you try standing at the edge of the abyss With your heart...

Do You Believe in Magic?

Image
While we are consciously trying to tie up the loose ends of our otherwise unruly and somewhat bittersweet adulting lives, there are times when you suddenly come across someone who waves at you from the balcony above while you are hustling to accomplish goals and at that fleeting moment, time stops! Under every other circumstance, you would have waved back and walked off briskly. But then there are times that the impenetrable aura of a person makes him pursuable. You cannot help but get consumed in the moment to unravel the mystery behind the charming eyes or the occasional smirk that has left you intrigued the myriad of times in the past. Probably you have hardly noticed his existence in the past few months. Probably you have just felt his presence but have failed to acknowledge his being altogether. And then you speculate and put together the pieces of the aenigma together. To think about it, there actually has been multiple occasions that your eyes have searched for him in the ...

The Vicious Circle of Love and Blame!

Image
What defines that fine line between compromise and subjugation?  A relationship is all about collecting moments and sewing them into a situation that sums up to become a story. While collecting these moments it is very important to curate the basket and not let any toxic moment scoot in. A successful relationship is defined by how well the couples compliment and fill up each other’s shortcomings, thus, making a whole. This leads to a process of gradual but steady change. A change that is reflected through both the parties and well evident before the closed ones. This process is about accepting each other’s flaws and moving on. If there is a question in the acceptance, then to talk about it and changing the perspective of the concerned party, thus, eventually moving on.  This process is pretty masked during the first few months, when both the parties seem to revel in the joy of their similarities. Colloquially it is famous as the ‘honeymoon period’ . Once this...

A Crappy Teacher's Day, LIFE!

Image
“… Shit happens!” “… Life isn’t fair!” “… World is cruel!” We hear these lines from at least one in every three people we meet. Little do we know what exactly happens to that person after his trail of thoughts on the cruelty of the world ends. Every single human being who has outlived these days of their lives, where they have uttered the above lines, have a Story! A story left to motivate and inspire people, to never ever give up! A story to tell the world that every single human being is extraordinary in his or her own way! A story that makes him or her stand out among the rest, yet make him feel a part of every individual on Earth.  There are days when you hit the extreme most low and you vouch that there can never be anything worse! Well, life is playful you see. Life takes up that challenge and presents to you a higher level of superlative degree of worse, in a platter! It is actually moot to say worst every single time, because believe me, it is not the end! T...

How to Un-Love?

Image
Everybody apparently teaches how to love, however, those novels, movies or theoretical lovers never teach you how to Un-Love! It is a tricky business, I tell you! So, first of all, one needs to figure out if the love they have been bragging about all this while, is the kind of love you want to cling on to or the one that comes like the calm before an apocalypse. The love of your life is the kind of love you’d intend to cling on to. However, the love of a lifetime always comes in a package of perfection that is toxic to own and shattering to let go. Let go! It restores peace and harmony in an otherwise jeopardized life!  Your whole life either goes, searching for that one true love that you never let go in the coming twenty five years possibly. However, that love of a lifetime is your one epic love that you’re stumped by in all this soul searching! It comes like the whiff of your favourite flavour of cheese that you should resist yourself from, in order to stay healthy,...

The Hazard called Growing Up

Image
The world’s most controversial and evident dilemma that every human being has to go through, incessantly! By the end of early to mid – twenties, depending on the level of maturity, almost everyone hones the art of handling and coping with the daily worldly problems, that cross our paths, if not solve them. However, when there’s a civil war between the heart and the mind, how to tame either of them or both for that matter of fact, and arrive at a decision? Even worse, when your subconscious decides to pick a fight between the righteous side and the evil side, the side that guides you to do whatever is good for you and the people closest to you, and the side that selfishly just guides you to fulfil all your desires and supports all your darkest emotions! What do you do? When the subconscious is gone and you’re consciously struggling to prove a point, whom should you turn to, to help you out?  The mind is a surreal place, if you ever enter anyone’s. Externally the pers...

MANIPAL - a Treasure Trove of Weather

Image
As the comfortable Volvo halted at the KMC gates, with a jerk, it was time to start a new chapter in life, MANIPAL! The morning did not see the consoling rays of the beautiful Sun that sets in the lost edges of the End Point. Thus, on a misty Thursday morning, as a flu-attacked girl, this journey in a whole new world had started. Manipal had given the coolest warm welcome with the intermittent bursts of drizzle, a signature of the place for six months of the year! Lost as it felt, for the first few months, like the aimlessly wandering clouds in the evening sky, confused whether to pour down or control her emotions, Manipal had rightfully taught, how to stay put. I could feel the dampness of each morning, at the corner of my eyes, missing the gentle motherly touch. Usually Sun used to show up late, especially during those 8 o’clock classes. The lush greenery around used to carefully hold the sparkling dewdrops from the darkness of the night and offer a canvas for the m...

Oh! Calcutta

Image
“…and I’ll never ever get back to Kolkata again!” Most of these days’, conversations with mom and dad, end with this line. Yes! Probably if I get an opportunity, I’ll never get back to Kolkata! But Calcutta? Nah! It’s not the same! Calcutta is a time some of us are trying to hold back and treasure. Kolkata can be ‘Tilottama’ but Calcutta is an emotion!  The City of Joy we call it! Well how much joy Kolkata has given me, I don’t know! But Calcutta surely has been a piece of my taped heart that has been broken over and over again! Yes and Calcutta has witnessed it all! My first love, first heartbreak, first cigarette, first time in Oly Pub before turning 21, first kiss, my dumb poetry I had started as early as the seventh grade and has witnessed its transformation over the years! It made me fall in love with rains and winters and winter rains predominantly! The fumes escaping those earthen cups, holding the best tea in the world!  The  millions...

Letter to Myself

Image
What if you could hope and wish And see rocks turning into gold? What if you could stare at the night sky  And feel the stars rubbing your back? What if you could stand alone at the shore And see beyond the horizon? What if you could plan the wrong things And see it all happen before your eyes? Rocks, gold, stars and the night sky Shore, horizon, wrong things and expectations; Just another synonym for your failing expectations Yet another red cross on your list of things you could have! Disappointment is the only constant While you are busy setting up all your variables. Failing expectations be your que card Among all your other burning sensations! What ifs exceed your 'Have' list The mind draws on a new canvas! While the cool night breeze brushes your hair across  The first ray of sunshine builds up new masterpieces! Only if you could see... Only if you could see how wrong you are! Only if you could train your haywir...

Forgotten Promises

Image
Hope, A treacherous alibi to rely on To see the days turning into night fall and To get back with the Sun shining, up and high. You live every day clinging onto that very hope. Hope that keeps your heart beating and Your soul reaping those tiny bits of Expectations, That you call hope. Distance Rips you farther apart and yet, That one hope keeps that  Wry smile on your dried and burnt lips Constant. Voice, Like a 24x7 ticking clock  That turns into screams in my head, Every now and then Like a reminder alarm of him being around; Until I press that snooze button giving  A plethora of fake calms and soothe. Patience, Why is it necessarily associated with a woman? From whom the society expects  Poise and a decent gesture That suffocates and chokes her And forces her to stand before that abyss  Of infinite heartbreaks and oblivion! It's her responsibility to go against herself and Take ...
