Trippin' Over that 'TEEN' Edge! ;)
The mist, the fog, the sudden bursts of torrential downpour... they knew it all! So did know that sparkling dew drop carefully held at the tip of that insignificant grass that would be smashed in the morning by the incessant marching of black boots following the rhythm of the drum beats. The purple night sky knew and knew the overhanging darkness of the night. The sleeping birds, the twinkling stars, the ever-lit moon and the next morning's first ray of light... they all probably knew!
And finally, it was officially known to the world.
As the clock struck midnight,
A teenager lost the teen from the age,
While the nation turned seventy!
It was the hour for celebration and it was worth it! Celebrations for surviving the growing cruelty and brutality of the mankind! For cherishing every moment of her whole being. Of rejoicing the making and the maker. Of counting on to all those people who mean the most in her life, and the others who not so matter. It was time to celebrate the ticking away of every hour and getting closer to the end. After all she turned a year older!
She loved accepting challenges, until she came to realise that LIFE in itself was a challenge! The world seemed a funny place at twenty. The short five-lettered word held so much relevance in real life but ended so easily in the flick of a finger!
The world taught her everything and took revision tests in every interval. The world gave her everything but didn't forget to take back everything with interest! How conveniently she taught her to be strong and independent. Though the last word had more of a relevance with her birth date! Life taught her to be kind and to forgive. On the contrary, she broke her heart every time possible. She taught her to fight with the cruelty of the world and yet keep smiling through thick and thin. She made her strong and put her through every hurdle possible!
Yes, she is independent. In every way possible! Be it just standing for the right and supporting someone whom none other does. Yes, she's defiant. She knows how to hold up her stand before the world. She's been like this forever! The day she was born gave her by virtue of its importance, the quality of crossing streets alone and walking up empty lanes in the late hour of the day! She was a world in herself. A world no one ever had any access to. A world rather desolate and deserted.
All the experiences she's been through made her the way she is today! To the world she's rather heartless! To humanity she's the sinner. To her soul she's the victim. Though her heart knew the truth. She was a saviour. She saved three lives, taking her own, in the process. She gave way to the only soul she wanted to cling on to forever. She lost hope on those promises once made that now seems blurred in her memory. That surfaces with the brimming water that overflows her eyelashes. She knew she was loved but the quest for MORE took everything away from her!
And Life, again being the most versatile entity of all things living or non-living, compensated her loss with a bunch of beautiful, innocent souls. Souls not as dark as hers, not as scarred as hers. Souls ready to accept her the way she was. Ready to hold her hand through thick and thin. Ready to tread every path she took. With a lot of trust and faith. She was once again bestowed with the best gift on Earth, Love! She accepted their coming as she had accepted his leaving.
The souls who had witnessed that first public tear on her cheeks, that first face-splitting grin on her face, that first drag of solace that she had drunk in from the peg of life! They had witnessed it all! And with the break of dawn they even witnessed a maiden tripping over that 'TEEN' edge!
At the struck of midnight, there was a vast stretch of silence, one that is evident before an apocalypse! And then there were these crazily beautiful bunch of friends she had who decided to shape up the night and the day after to make that one day stand out of the other 364! Such well planned celebrations are rarely witnessed.
Turning 20 was worth it. Tripping over had never felt so beautiful before! :D
Obliged to all who worked behind the night sooooo much! :D
