Crawling... Walking... Running...
The best thing about this Heavenly ride we're on is, this place, with the most unpredictable and bizarre weather conditions ever, is actually very soothing when it comes to the ease of getting familiarised in an alien place! Manipal will always... I mean it, ALWAYS keep you so busy 24x7... you don't exactly get much time to contemplate over the why's and the how's of your landing here... Neither will she ever... and again I mean it, EVER make you feel like leaving everything and running into the hills that the 19th and 20th blocks (Boys Hostel) elegantly face...!
Though the last statement has a small condition applied... THE COMPANY YOU MAKE... Yeah... it matters a lot... the only key to have such a contended stay 2122 kms away from the place you owned for 19 years of your life, is, you have to make a very good friends circle... people whom you'd have to bank on for the rest of the four years... 'cause you'll never ever make such close friends ever again in the whole of the next four years... your first friends will have the strongest bonding with you... no matter how many number of friends you make, later!
After crawling and trespassing the barred hindrance, the challenge was to feel home in the lonely, materialistic, grey scale surroundings of the tower-like building solely made up of concrete! Our prime responsibility was to add life to it and make it, her!
The only burst of life felt in the obscure non-AC girls hostel, Block-XI is, the beautiful courtyard outside the building! With the refreshing jet of air flowing swiftly at all times and with the incessant chirruping of birds and with the soothing aroma of nature around and with the ever protecting sky above that exhibited a wide range of hues every evening... finally it felt home... and then with the timely intrusion of the five of them captured in the photograph above... days started passing merrily!
Another building we had to frequent five times a week was the Academic Block... with the huge glass walls, standing elegantly in the heart of the campus... One of the finest sites to get awestruck with in Manipal is the architecture around... bizarre in it's own way, yet holding class and grandeur...
The challenge to be established as a Manipalite had started the very first day, on walking into this building for the orientations... From then on, life has been running... The daily monotony creeps in as the semester advances... With the invasion of the heaps of assignments and mid-semesters life advances in a way that can only be experienced! Words aren't enough to portray! Extremes of situations arise when the only way to avoid questions like if we're missing our home-town is by changing the topic of discussion as the answer, if truth be spoken is harsh, hailing out a stern NO and otherwise the only alternative would be to lie!
The daily chores, the mundane monotony of the passing hours, the scheduled hours of meals, four times a day, the long distances of walking up and down to college, otherwise the luxury of 20 GB Wi-Fi, the blessing of weekly release of Bollywood films, the art of piracy, the treasure of Torrent sites and the presence of a lifeline like the one portrayed in the first picture will never really set aside any free time for you to ponder over the various decisions taken in life or to brood and sulk over the fact that you're 2122 kms away from your nearest and dearest ones!
However, everything depends on the way of life you choose to lead! You must be thinking if this is the way of life led by every Manipalite here, then what about the 'decision of experimenting every illegal act that would have possibly never even occured in our parents' nightmares', about what I had spoken of in the introductory post...!
Well, to know about the other side of 'Life in Manipal', stay tuned... Next in the series would be a glimpse of all those illegal acts...!
Happy reading... keep liking, sharing and commenting...!
